Children's Services

Child ADHD Assessments

We offer comprehensive ADHD assessments for children and adolescents aged 7 to 18 who may be experiencing challenges with attention, emotional regulation, impulsivity, hyperactivity, or remaining focused and settled in school.

Our assessment process is thorough, collaborative, and grounded in best-practice guidelines. It typically includes:

  • A detailed parental interview exploring developmental history and current concerns.

  • Cognitive assessment where appropriate.

  • Standardised measures assessing characteristics of ADHD.

  • Direct collateral information gathered from school.

  • Review of relevant existing reports.

  • Liaison with other professionals (e.g., GP or other services) where required.

  • A feedback session to discuss findings and recommendations.

  • A comprehensive psychological report suitable for submission to the HSE and Department of Education.

Please note that we do not use the QbTest as part of our assessment process, as it is not currently recommended within best-practice clinical guidelines for ADHD assessment.

If your child meets diagnostic criteria for ADHD, we will provide detailed recommendations and guidance. However, we do not prescribe medication. Should you wish to explore pharmacological treatment, referral to a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist will be required.

School Placement Assessments

We provide psychological assessments for children where there are concerns that their current educational setting may not be the most appropriate fit for their learning, developmental, or support needs. These assessments are designed to help clarify a child’s cognitive profile and adaptive functioning in order to inform decisions about suitable educational provision.

A school placement assessment typically includes cognitive testing and evaluation of adaptive skills, with reference to relevant Department of Education criteria and enrolment guidelines for specialised educational settings.

Please note that decisions regarding school governance, placement, and resource allocation remain solely under the authority of the Department of Education. While our assessments aim to provide clear and helpful recommendations, we do not have control over final placement decisions or variations in supports available across educational settings.

Adult Services

Adult ADHD Assessments

If you are seeking clarity about whether ADHD may be part of your story, our adult ADHD assessments provide a supportive and respectful space to explore your experiences. Many adults seek assessment after years of feeling overwhelmed, inconsistent, or frustrated by patterns they haven’t fully understood. Our aim is to help you make sense of those patterns with compassion, clinical expertise, and practical guidance.

Assessments can be completed in person or virtually, depending on what feels most comfortable and accessible for you. The process typically includes:

  • A detailed clinical interview exploring developmental history and current experiences.

  • Standardised ADHD assessment measures.

  • Exploration of strengths, coping strategies, and areas of difficulty.

  • Consideration of overlapping or co-occurring conditions.

  • A comprehensive feedback session.

  • A detailed written report with personalised recommendations.

Our approach is collaborative and person-centred. We aim not only to determine whether diagnostic criteria are met, but to provide meaningful understanding, validation, and practical next steps that support your wellbeing and confidence moving forward.

Adult Autism Assessments

Many adults seek assessment after years of questioning their differences and reflecting on lifelong patterns. Our role is to provide clarity in a way that feels validating, collaborative, and grounded in evidence.

Assessments can be completed in person or virtually, depending on your preferences and needs. We aim to create an environment that feels accessible and accommodating, including flexibility around communication style and sensory comfort. The process typically includes:

  • A detailed developmental and life history.

  • Exploration of communication style, relationships, sensory experiences, routines, interests, and patterns over time.

  • Use of standardised assessment measures where appropriate.

  • Consideration of overlapping or co-occurring conditions.

  • A comprehensive feedback session.

  • A detailed written report with personalised recommendations.

We work collaboratively throughout, ensuring you feel heard and understood rather than judged or tested. Our approach is neuroaffirmative, recognising autism as a natural variation in human experience. We aim not only to determine whether diagnostic criteria are met, but to help you understand your strengths, support needs, and next steps with confidence.
